Ashley Laverty founded Kerfuffle, a theatre company devoted to creating performances for children 2-5 years old. She wrote and directed the premiere production, The Caterpillar's Footprint. Other plays for young audiences include Nadine's Coloring Book, Where Our Stuff Goes, Dotty Dot!. Ashley has performed nationally with the National Theatre for Children, VEE, Roxy Regional Theatre, Vital Theatre. Ashley relocated to Omaha in 2016 for a full time Teaching Artist position at The Rose Theater where she teaches creative drama and musical theatre to young people ages 2-18. She holds an M.F.A in Theatre for Youth from Arizona State University.
As a theatre maker, she believes young people have the right to experience emotionally engaging, aesthetically exciting, unique, and original plays created specifically for them. Young people deserve to have agency and be given space to contribute to the theatre and art that they experience.
